ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Eagle Store – Every Wednesday, students are able to buy treats or little toys at lunch in the cafeteria at the “Eagle Store

Chapel – Wednesday is our last chapel.

Kids’ Club Party – Tues., May 17th, from 11:30 to 1:00.  Students should bring a towel and a change of clothes (if you don’t want wet clothes on your car seats).  Pick up your child in front of the church.  That’s where the water slide will be!!

NEW SCHOOL HOURS STARTING MON., MAY 16TH:  DISMISSAL IS 11:30.

THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS THURSDAY, MAY 19TH.  THE AWARDS CEREMONY IS ON FRIDAY, THE 20TH, IN THE SANCTUARY.  GO DIRECTLY TO THE SANCTUARY WITH YOUR CHILD, WHO MAY SIT WITH YOU.  THE CEREMONY STARTS AT 9:00 A.M.

Wednesday:  Math – addition and subtraction, telling time, temperature, place value, story problems, fractions, counting by tens, counting money, greater than, less than, or =; Speed drill

Thursday:  Phonics – write words, special sound in words, and words from Spelling List; Spelling Test on Spelling List 29

Friday:  Bible story and memory verse

HOMEWORK:

Bible:  The Bible story test is a review of basic Christian concepts we have discussed throughout the year.  The last memory verse is Deuteronomy 6:5 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”

Math:  Practice Addition and Subtraction Families 1 – 13; counting; combining coins (always start with the highest value coin first); telling time; measures; fractions; greater than and less than; place value (ones, tens, and hundreds place); 2-digit and 3-digit addition and subtraction; review Arithmetic worksheets.

Phonics/Spelling:   Practice Charts 6 – 13; practice blends and words with special sounds in Handbook for Reading; say short and long vowel words to your child and have him/her sound them out and write them; practice Spelling words every day (have child write words as you dictate them or spell them to you orally).

Spelling List 29 – (for test on Thurs.) – old, cold, fold, gold, child, mild, wild, blind, find, kind, mind, comb, climb, Father, some

THE LAST Spelling List 30 – (to be introduced Thurs.) – lace, face, grace, price, mice, ice, cent, city, circus, pencil, circle, bicycle, put, pull, push

Language:  Practice classifying sentences, review worksheets.  Students should be able to identify synonyms/antonyms, when to use “a” and “an”, and writing a sentence correctly.

Writing:  Student may practice writing letters/words/sentences using tablet paper and manuscript guide.  You could have your child write sentences using Spelling words; help him/her check the sentences for correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.

Reading:  No more reading homework.
