No chapel this week
Jan 9-13 is Homecoming Week! Each day will have a dress up day which students MAY participate in but the dress up days are not mandatory! Please remember that we will call you to bring clothes for your child if they are dressed at all inappropriately!!
Monday–Pajama Day–students may wear appropriate pajamas. Please no slippers. Student will go outside for recess. Appropriate means that the graphics on the pj’s are appropriate for school and that the fit is appropriate.
Tuesday–Fictional Character Day–again, please make sure the fictional character is appropriate for school; No witches or wizards, etc.
Wednesday–Wacky Wednesday–mix it up! Don’t match/wear a wig/look ridiculous! (But appropriate!)
Thursday–Decades Day–dress in the style of your favorite decade!
Friday– Super Spirit Day (jeans and spirit shirts/free shoes/spray paint hair but no face paint please!) and Parade and Pep Rally
Each week, I will send home the test folder with the past week’s test graded for you to see and sign the signature form. Please return the test with graded tests in the folder the next day.

Homework
Math- worksheet, and continue practicing division and multiplication facts (0-10) using flash cards, IPAD, phone, computer, games, etc.

Bible- memorize Memory Verse: Psalm 34:8, “Examine and see how good the Lord is. Happy is the person who trusts the Lord.”
Reading- read an A.R. book for 15 minutes each night. When they are finished reading it, they can take a test on it at school, new point goal has been set. This nine weeks, the AR grade is just based on reaching their point goal.
Study for upcoming tests:
Math Speed Drill- This week, students will have three minutes to solve 20 Division facts, dividing by 2.
Bible- students may use their workbook to study and a study guide sheet in their take home folder
Reading- students use their Reading book to review the story and skill, and use reading workbook to study vocabulary
Science- Chapter 10 The Solar System; study Ch 10 vocabulary and chapter review page 159-160 in workbook; order of planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
Helpful terms- moon (revolves around the Earth); sun (center of the solar system); the sun and all of the objects that revolve around it make up the solar system.
vocabulary: telescope, probe, satellite, solar system, planet, revolution, orbit, axis, rotation, moon phase
Weekly Focus:
Bible- Jesus satisfies, Jesus feeds 5,000; He is the Bread of Life and Good Shepherd; Jesus drives out demons; Armor of God; vocab- compassion, spiritual warfare
Reading- A Gift for Tia Rosa , skill- understanding the author’s purpose, and study Vocabulary (daisy side of reading workbook pg 32): flickered, fringe, confessed, fierce, frail, schedule, wisdom, determination
Math- Ch 7 Long Division: dividing with and without remainders, divide 3-and 4-digit dividends by 1-digit divisors, find average of multiple numbers
English- Ch 8: identifying direct objects, transitive verbs, Pattern 2 (SN V-t DO P2), simple verb tenses, regular and irregular verbs; vocab- protest and massive
Science- Chapter 10: Solar System-space exploration, sun and solar system, planets, earth’s moon; vocabulary: telescope, probe, satellite, solar system, planet, revolution, orbit, axis, rotation, moon phase
