Tests

Thursday: Math test 7 (write the before and after numbers by tens, write the sums and differences, solve the word problem, count how many cents using nickels and pennies, count by ones, and write the addition facts) and speed drill

Friday: Science Chapter 5 test on movement (study guide can be found under uploads on the left side of this page)

Classwork

Monday:

Math: Workbook pages 83-84. Write the differences, count how many cents by using nickels and pennies, write the before and after number by tens, write the sums and differences, count by ones, complete the word problem.

Social Studies: Review game. Workbook pages 37-38

Science: Review for test on movement

Writing: Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Tuesday:

Math: Workbook pages 85-86. Write the addition facts, match the nickels with what they will buy, complete the addition and subtraction problems and colored the leaves according to the answer, count by fives.

Social Studies: Workbook pages 39-40. Review the term sequence. Allow students to write what would come next in the story. Review the term settlers. Allow students to label the pictures and discuss what the settlers did in each picture.

Science: Review for test on movement

Writing: Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Wednesday:

Math: Workbook pages 87-88. Count by ones and color the picture, count by tens, write the sums and differences, use the ruler to find out how many inches it equals, count the cents by using dimes and pennies.

Social Studies: Workbook pages 41-42. Introduce students to the term flow chart. Allow students to label the flow chart in the correct order to show how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Discuss the terms big idea and facts.

Science: Workbook pages 81-82. Introduction to the unit about machines. Go over the different things that machines help people do. Allow students to name some that they know of. Introduce the terms force, work, and energy. Give examples of each term and allow students to discuss what they already know about the words.

Thursday:

Math: Math test 7 and speed drill

Social Studies: Workbook pages 43-44. Introduce the word folktale. Allow the class to name some of their favorite folktales. Read a folktale for the class as an example. Discuss how people from different cultures eat differently than we do.

Science: Workbook pages 83-84. Discuss the term simple machine with the class. Allow the class to match the word with the picture to show which machine is being used and how the machine helps.

Writing: Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Friday:

Math: Workbook pages 89-90. Write the differences and then color the pictures, circle the largest carrot by figuring out which one is the longest in inches, use the chart to figure out how many bones each dog ate.

Social Studies: Workbook pages 45-46. Review the terms North, East, South, and West. Allow students to complete the questions using the map about the different directions. Discuss the different roles that people have in the world. Allow students to give examples and to explain what the person has to do with that role.
