Monday: Handwriting test 7

Tuesday: Math test 8 (count how many cents, write the before and after numbers by ones, write the sums and differences, story problems, count by tens) and speed drill 8

Thursday: Social Studies test unit 5 (study guide under uploads)

 

Classwork

 Monday:

Writing: Pages 83-84. Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Science: Workbook pages 85-86. Discuss simple machines like ramps and inclined planes. Ask students to share where they have seen an inclined plane or ramp before. Discuss how these things can be found on the back of cars or trucks as well. Ask students if they think a rainbow is an inclined plane. Explain why it is.

Math: Workbook pages 91-92. Write the differences use the ducklings to help, write how many cents using dimes nickels and pennies, write the missing even numbers, measure the ears of corn, tell what time it is using the clock.

Social Studies: Workbook pages 47-48. Complete the study guide for unit 5 with the terms culture, immigrants, customs, history, folktales.

Tuesday:

Writing: Pages 85-86. Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Science: Workbook pages 87-88. Introduce the term lever to the class. Ask the students if they think a lever is a simple machine. Explain why it is and allow them to discuss the different things that they can do with a lever. Allow students to match the picture with the correct words to show what is being lifted in each picture. Allow students to find the lever in each picture given to them.

Math: Math test and speed drill

Social Studies: Review for test

Wednesday:

Writing: pages 87-88. Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Science: Workbook pages 89-90. Introduce students to the term pulley and explain to them why it is a simple machine. Allow students to discuss the different things that a pulley can do. Allow students to connect the correct word to the picture (wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, and lever). Review for science test on machines.

Math: Workbook pages 87-88. Write the sums and differences and color the apples and the basket, write the before and after numbers by ones, match the coins with what they will buy, solve the story problems.

Social Studies: Review for test

Thursday:

Writing: pages 89-90. Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Science:  Workbook pages 91-92. Discuss how robots are machines that are designed to help people. Allow students to list the different things that robots can help people do. Ask students what are some things that they think robots will be able to do in the future. Allow students to draw a robot of their own. Review for science test on machines.

Math: Workbook pages 90, 93-94. Write the sums and differences and color the picture, count how many cents, count how many inches, color the path by fives.

Social Studies: Social Studies test unit 5 (study guide under uploads)

Friday:

Writing: pages 91-92. Complete worksheets in Writing: review formation of letters and sentences

Science: Science test on machines will be Monday, November 2. Workbook pages 93-94. Allow students to circle the word that tells which machine is working to get the job done. Allow students to put an X on the pictures that are not pictures of machines. Review for science test on machines.

Math: Workbook pages 95-96. Count by twos from 2 to 30, complete the two addition facts and two subtraction facts, circle the name of this month, write the name of this month on the calendar, complete this month’s calendar, color the dates for Saturday yellow, write the date for the first Tuesday of this month, write the date for the second Friday of this month, write today’s date, and how many days there are in this month.
