Each week, I will send home the test folder with the past week’s test graded for you to see and sign the signature form. Please return the test with graded tests in the folder the next day.

Homework

Homework is assigned on Monday in the Homework Folder, and due on Friday in the homework folder. Math Homework will be graded. Late homework will not be taken.

Please cover 4 hardback books with brown paper- Shurley English, Social Studies, Literature Opal- Daisy and Sunflower

Bible- memorize Memory Verse- Isaiah 6:8, “Then I heard the Lord’s voice.  He said, ‘Whom can I send? Who will go for us?’ So I said, ‘Here I am. Send me!”

Reading- read an A.R. book for 15 minutes each night. When they are finished reading it, they can take a test on it at school.

Study for upcoming tests:

Math Speed Drill- starting this week, we will have a speed drill once a week. Students will have three minutes to solve 20 facts. This week, the speed drill will be addition facts to 18

Science- Chapter 2 Life of Plants, study Ch 2 Vocabulary and chapter review page will be sent home in Take Home Folder, and may use workbook to review

English- In Take home Folder, a Level 3 Vocabulary List was sent home- this a list of the vocabulary words we will be learning in English throughout the year. From that list, we have learned encourage, soothe, and urgent. For the Ch 2 Test, students need to know the definition, antonym, synonym, and use in a sentence for the vocab words. Also, Chapter 2 Check Up in their workbook will be a good page to review for the test.

Bible- students may use their workbook to study and a study guide sheet in their take home or homework folder

Reading- students use their Reading book to review the story and skill, and use reading workbook to study vocabulary

Study Guides: For most of the curriculum, the students will bring home a study guide in the take home folder throughout the week. After I finish teaching a chapter, we complete a study guide. They will be sent home only a day or two before the test.

Weekly Focus:

Bible- The first four disciples, Jesus calls Peter, Andrew, James and John to be his disciples, responding to God’s call, being equipped to be fishers of men, and growing in faith

Reading- Taro and the Tofu, literature textbook pages 75-89; skill-theme (the main idea of story), and study Vocabulary (in reading workbook pg 26): delicacy, dim, errand, linger, respectfully, responsible, struggled, triumph

Math- Chapter 2- word problems, adding 3 addends, adding 2-digit numbers with or without regrouping, vocabulary sum and addend

English- Chapter 2: classifying subject noun, verb, adverbs, adjectives, and article adjectives in sentences; sentence pattern 1: SN V P1, SN-subject noun, V-verb, P1-pattern 1; end marks, kinds of sentences, word analogies, vocabulary- encourage, soothe, urgent

Science- Chapter 2 Life of Plants: plant life cycle, flower parts, plant cells; Ch.2 vocabulary- carbon dioxide, chlorophyll, microscope, cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, chloroplast, pollination, stamen, pollen, pistil, germinate, heredity (vocabulary list was sent home in their homework folder)
