Americanism Art Contest- drawings due Oct 20- drawing of a historical event, must be a free hand drawing (not traced) on paper no larger than 9×12

Each week, I will send home the test folder with the past week’s test graded for you to see and sign the signature form. Please return the test with graded tests in the folder the next day.

Bible- memorize Memory Verse- 1 John 4:21, And God gave us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.
Reading- read an A.R. book for 15 minutes each night. When they are finished reading it, they can take a test on it at school, AR points due this week.
Study for upcoming tests:
Math Speed Drill- This week, students will have three minutes to solve 20 missing parts with subtraction facts to 18, such as 13- ____=8.
Bible- students may use their workbook to study and a study guide sheet in their take home folder
Reading- students use their Reading book to review the story and skill, and use reading workbook to study vocabulary
Study Guides: For most of the curriculum, the students will bring home a study guide in the take home folder throughout the week. After I finish teaching a chapter, we complete a study guide. They will be sent home only a day or two before the test.
Weekly Focus:
Bible- Walking in love, a heart of love, love everyone, unselfish love, the fruit of love, vocabulary- motive and selfless
Reading- The Printer, literature textbook pages 193-199, skill- character attributes (describing a character’s physical traits and attributes), and study Vocabulary (in reading workbook pg 62): exchanged, fled, engulfed, spewing, shafts, numb, image, shuddered, midst
Math- Ch 4: multiplication strategies (repeated addition, equal groups, and making an array), multiply by 4, multiply by 3 & 4, multiply by 5, multiply by 0 & 1, problem solving
English- Chapter 5: classifying sentences, pronouns, subject pronouns, understood subject pronouns, possessive pronoun, and possessive pronoun adjective; simple sentence, coordinate conjunctions, and compound subject, compound verb; identify fragments, run-ons, and types of sentences, vocabulary- trail (page 132 in the textbook). They should have a sheet with all the vocabulary words in their folder.
Science- Chapter 5 Motion and Force: forces, Newton’s Laws of Motion, work and power, simple machines
