¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos!
Time surely flies; I’m so excited for year 3 at First Baptist!
This year I will be teaching Spanish – school wide – and will be your new librarian. I will also have the pleasure of teaching life skills again!
Summer time was relaxing and fun! Mr. Gambino and I spent a lot of time renovating our home, traveling, and spoiling Luna, our husky. We finally celebrated our honeymoon and one year anniversary in beautiful St. Lucia!
About Me:
I was born in Honduras, but grew up in Louisiana since I was a month old! I live in Slidell with my husky – Luna – and my husband Blake. I graduated from Salmen High School in 2013. I went on to graduate from LSU in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After graduating, I taught English as a second language (ESL) for 2 years. God has always led me to ministry with children and I have a genuine gift and heart for them. I have done everything from babysitting, nannying, teaching Sunday school, volunteering at local public schools, and more. Three years ago, God led me to FBCS and it’s been my home ever since. The love I have for our school, students, and staff is unconditional. I cannot wait to grow alongside our students this year, new and old. Despite the worldly circumstances lately, God has shined through with blessings and love. This school year will be amazing!
My favorite things:
- Jesus
- Luna
- Family time
- Candy
- Penguins
- Gardening
- Chai tea
- Traveling
- Saints Football
- LSU Football
- Purple
Expectations:
- Follow all school rules and guidelines
- Follow all safety protocols
- Come to class prepared and ready to learn
- Participation is key
- Be kind
- Be respectful
- Love one another
- Do your best
- Have fun

All information and schedules for my Spanish classes can be found on our Google Classroom and Google Calendar links. Students will have these linked on their iPads. I encourage all parents to download these as well to stay in the know. Student’s grades will be posted weekly on Headmaster.

¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos!
Most of the kids know me as Ms. Acevedo from last year. I recently got married to my high
school sweetheart on July 31st
, so my new name is Astrid Gambino! I was so blessed, excited,
and honored to be the Spanish teacher at First Baptist Christian School last year. This year I am
really looking forward to also be teaching 6th grade Social Studies and 8th grade Bible.

always led me to ministry with children and I have a genuine gift and heart for them. I have
done everything from babysitting, nannying, teaching Sunday school, volunteering at local
public schools, and more. As I stated in my intro, I am so blessed to have finally gotten married
this summer, after a COVID related postponement. My husband and I have 2 cats and a husky
that we spoil and love so much.
My favorite things:
